Major Function This position's primary responsibility is to assist in building and maintaining a robust enterprise wide business intelligence infrastructure. This position is responsible for the ongoing delivery of business intelligence services including systems analysis and specification, development and distribution of business intelligence content for the enterprise. Key elements/accountabilities of the Lincoln Financial Group's Business Intelligence team include the management, support and deployment of IT software assets across the enterprise. This includes the design and maintenance of data warehouses through collaborative engagement with business analysts and database administrators to materialize requirements into logical and physical specifications, support of development teams in the use of corporate standard ETL tools and assistance with report development through the stages of requirements gathering, report design and deployment.The BI Specialist selected for this assignment will have a demonstrated competence with the Informatica PowerCenter development tools working in a distributed environment. The preferred candidate will have demonstrated experience with Team Based Development (version control) as well as with Informatica Metadata Manager and will have senior level experience with the Hyperion Data Integration Management (DIM) feature. 2. Primary Duties/Accountabilities (Describe key job elements of the position, in order of amount of time spent and importance to the job.) 1. Support Informatica PowerCenter infrastructure components to deliver a stable environment for production and non-production platforms: . Actively participate in workflow design sessions and meetings related to assigned project development efforts . Provide support for non-production and production code migrations . Monitor and tune PowerCenter environments . Monitor Capacity . Tune OS (Unix and Windows) for performance/ troubleshoot OS problems . Monitor hardware usage and recommend upgrades 2. Provide consulting and technical expertise for data integration projects across the enterprise . Participate in the development of design standards i. Auditing to promote self-healing/intelligent processes ii. Monitoring to ensure timely developer response service levels iii. Governance/Production Control . Assist Data Architect assigned to GL replacement with design and implementation of Informatica mappings built to migrate/convert from the legacy GL (e2) to the new GL (PeopleSoft) . Recognize the need for improvement in existing processes/applications and present viable solutions to the team/customer . Actively participate in integration, performance and functionality testing . Assist development staff in identifying and documenting test cases for unit and system testing . Assist in Analysis, design, coding, and testing highly efficient and highly scalable integration solutions using Informatica suite of products. . Become a Subject Matter Expert for one or more integration points with full accountability for ensuring operational continuity and supportability . Participate in production support of data integration services . Analyze problems and propose, present and propagate solutions or practices to meet architectural and technical challenges . Provide coaching and knowledge transfer to team members* *3. Responsibility and Decision-Making Authority (What type of decisions will the incumbent be able to makewithout supervisory review.) . Analyze the requirements, target and source data models . Participate in design and review activities related to the Extraction, Transformation and Loading of Source data into target Data Warehouse or Data Mart . Assist in development and testing of ETL . Assist in development of design of scheduling and sequencing of scripts . Creation and/or modification of disaster recovery procedures . Troubleshooting Informatica server performance issues . Testing and applying appropriate service packs to the prod/non-prod environments . Opening cases with Informatica support to resolve issues pertaining to LFG BI stack of applications . Running performance monitors or appropriate tracing mechanisms to troubleshoot or monitor the LFG Informatica environment 4. Dimensions (List statistical elements of the position which show its impact to the bottom line of the Department and/or Company.) This position has no direct dollar responsibility; however, has major control, at the computer operating level, of integrity of critical data and software, which directly affects the company's ability to do business. 5. Most Difficult Part of Job (Describe the most complex part of the position and estimate how long it takes to learn.) The position must develop a workable environment for the use of all LFG BI application components. The position requires excellent written and oral communication skills and must be able to learn quickly and adapt to different customer situations. The person must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment, must be well organized and willing to closely follow policy and procedures. This position must be able to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization as well as outside the organization. This person should be able to make effective presentations and be able to teach various aspects of the LFG BI technologies and software. 6. Experience (What kind of background or minimum experience would be required for this job?) .
