*We are seeking a senior Core Java developer to work in a challenging
environment developing high performance real-time data processing
applications *



·         Minimum 5 years solid experience with Java development, including
JTA and JDBC.

·         Experience with relational database development, including SQL.
Specific experience with IBM UDB or Sybase is an advantage.

·         Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems, including basic
shell scripting.

·         Understanding of object-orientated design principals.

·         Good verbal communication skills: ability to interact face-to-face
with senior users; to argue a case on a global conference call; to make a
presentation to 20 people.

·         Good written communication skills: ability to write discussion
documents and technical design documents for large global audiences.

·         Teamwork: work comfortably with other team members, lead a small
team of developers, and accept constructive feedback.

·         Experience with the following technologies is desired, but
optional: Hibernate, C#, Perl, Eclipse, FitNesse.

·         Experience in the Securities industry, particularly with clearance
and settlement, is an advantage



*Principal Responsibilities *



·         Analyst/Programmer in the Securities Clearance Factory team.

·         Design, implement, test, and support object-oriented software that
performs clearance and settlement for Goldman Sachs businesses.

·         Object-orientated software design, using UML modeling tools.

·         Interact with Securities Operations and other business users to
gather business requirements, identify efficiencies, and diagnose issues.

·         Participate in cross-application user acceptance tests, when
required.

·         Be prepared to support and maintain production applications.

·         Perform technical coaching of less experienced developers.

·         Help the team to build quality applications by encouraging a
test-driven, iterative approach to software development.

·         Participate in technical discussions with other developers; keep
up-to-date with new software technologies and methodologies.

·         Implementation of UI software using .NET and web technologies
