Title: *SAS“Platform Administrator with EBI / Forecast Server Exposure” *
Duration: 6+ months or contract to hire

Customer is seeking a SAS Platform Administrator (primarily) with
(secondarily) exposure to EBI usage and development and Forecast Server
usage.

Customer recently migrated from a PC SAS environment to a client-server SAS
9.2 environment with EBI and Forecast Server.  Customer requires a
Consultant to assist them with and/or lead SAS Platform Administration
tasks.  Secondarily, the Customer wants a Consultant to help them to
continue pushing users to adopt usage of the EBI and Forecast Server
environments.  As such, the Consultant will have a deep understanding of
SAS Platform Administration tasks coupled with general exposure to the
entire EBI product suite (including SAS coding) in order to continue to
help BASE SAS users migrate over to the web environment.  Customer can
accept this being somewhat of a learning environment for the Consultant in
that, if the Consultant has most of the skillsets described herein (but not
all), the Consultant will be afforded the opportunity to learn somewhat on
the job.

The Services activities may include focus on the following areas:

PRIMARY SKILL:
SAS Platform Administration (V 9.2 required—must have in-depth experience
with SAS Platform Administration within an EBI environment – V 9.3 a plus,
since an upgrade will occur this year) to include:

A.    Experience with SAS Management Console
a.    Creating libraries (SAS and RDBMS) and importing data
b.    Creating security schemes and controlling user access
c.    Creating users, groups, roles
d.    Defining servers
e.    Administering web applications
f.    Defining, troubleshooting and monitoring SAS servers
B.    Experience with multi-tier SAS environment
C.    Managing metadata repositories
D.    Performing and scheduling backups of the Metadata Server and physical
files
E.    Understanding SAS installation directory structures, where to find
things related to servers,
configurations, content, etc.
F.    Troubleshooting SAS-related performance issues, such as monitoring
and logging SAS servers and spawners, and then optimizing memory usage or
tuning servers for performance improvement
G.    Understanding the concepts of SAS repositories, what they are, why
they are used, and how to create / maintain them
H.    Understanding how SAS interacts with 3rd-party software such as
databases, web application servers, etc.
I.    Monitoring for availability and then installing updates to SAS
software (patches / maintenance releases / hot fixes, etc.)
J.    SAS Folders and permissions
K.    Creating and utilizing ACTs
L.    Creating portal pages, adding portlets and security portal content
M.    Creating and maintaining custom themes
N.    Understanding the inter-relation between LINUX OS and SAS Metadata
permissions and security
O.    Configuring SAS to authenticate to LDAP using PAM
P.    JBOSS as a Midtier web application server
Q.    SAS within a RedHat LINUX environment.

Secondary SKILL:
EBI Developer (V 9.2 – V 9.3 a plus, since an upgrade will occur this year).
Exposure to some of the following:

1.    Leading or assisting with activities related to EBI usage
definition,development, and/or implementation, including actions that may
incorporate both reporting and distribution processes
2.    Understanding Customer’s BI requests and translating them into
actionable reports from acquiring relevant data, modifying data if needed,
building the reports, outputting the reports, etc.
3.    Utilizing Enterprise Guide and its functionality to create project
flows which could include
aspects of data access, manipulation, summarization, and report generation
to a variety of output formats and channels, etc.
4.    Using Information Map Studio and its functionality to map physical
data to business elements.
5.    Using Web Report Studio and its functionality to create web reports
6.    Using the Information Delivery Portal as a means for users to view
reports
7.    Creating various OLAP cubes using functionality of OLAP Cube Studio
8.    Creating and registering Stored Processes from within Enterprise Guide
9.    Publishing Enterprise Guide reports directly to Web Report Studio
10.    Using the SAS Publication Framework to publish static content to SAS
publication channels to be consumed within the Portal
11.    Creating and modifying SAS BI Dashboards using available
functionality
12.    Utilizing the Add-in for Microsoft Office
13.    Understanding the interrelation of EBI components and when to use
one over the other, and be able to provide guidance, mentoring and
knowledge transfer within the Customeruser community in the proper use of
these SAS components
14.    Be proficient in Base SAS programming, SQL programming, as well as
the SAS Macro language for use in making code more efficient
15.    Leveraging and utilizing SAS’ Output Delivery System (ODS)
16.    Leveraging and utilizing SAS/ACCESS Interface to Oracle
(predominantly)

(Other Secondary Skills)
Knowledge of Forecast Server (FS)
a.    Help users adopt it.
b.    Nice to know how to use FS and have knowledge of it, but not be a
forecasting expert or know how to build forecasts.
Knowledge of JMP
Soft skills to include:
i.    Ability to train or mentor users (in classroom or other settings)
ii.    Interfacing and strategizing well with Senior Management in
developing long-term use plans of SAS, leveraging any inherent Project
Management skills
iii.    Exhibiting effective written and verbal communication skills.
iv.    Basic PM skills
