-          Someone who does the work hands-on

-          *Around 5 years of experience*

-          Projects: Database Admin, troubleshooting, giving guidance to
customers

-          The databases they are administering are both customer databases
(accessed remotely) and internal databases for our teams (will also be
administering cloud services databases in the future).

-          Looking for someone with good longevity

-          Enterprise environment experience

-          *70% physical environments, 30% virtual*

-          70% Linux/ Unix, 30% windows 2008 & 2003

-          Not on-call as a contractor, once hired will be on rotation for
on-call

-          Must know backups, recovering, exports, imports

-          Ability to work well under pressure

-          Shell Scripting: does not need to be an expert, but can do basic
scripting

-          Experience more important than certification, but if they have
11g or 10g that is great!

-          *Not too senior, just well-rounded*





*Minimum Knowledge/Qualifications – *



·         Bachelor's Degree in MIS, IT, Computer Science or related field.
Equivalent technical experience may be substituted for educational
requirement

·         *At least five plus years of experience working as an Oracle DBA,
in an enterprise environment supporting large databases (multiple
terabytes)*

·         *Certification in 10g or 11g*

·         Excellent understanding of and experience with relational
database architecture and database implementations/monitoring/database
maintenance with the primary focus on *Oracle Databases*

·         Ability to develop and troubleshoot shell scripts

·         Experience with RMAN and backup/recovery processes and procedures

·         Ability to run traces, performance monitoring, analyzing blocking
sessions, and good problem solving skills are required

·         Experience working with physical and virtual environments

·         Demonstrated, responsive and proactive communication skills
(verbal and written) to succinctly and directly summarize and document
issues, projects, protocols and processes including regular submission of
clear, standardized reports to management and peers.

·         Experience working with vendors to solve and escalate issues

·         Broad range of technical knowledge with demonstrated knowledge
of  system architectures, ASM, RAC, DataGuard, backups/storage, and SAN
technologies

·         Strong knowledge of various operating system environments
including Linux, Unix, Windows.

·         Working knowledge of disaster recovery requirements and processes

·         Ability to create, analyze and troubleshoot queries

·         Ability to handle Level 2/3 support issues

·         Experience in analyzing AWR, ADDM reports for Oracle databases



*Duties & Responsibilities Include – *



·         Primary focus is to maintain Oracle databases in production and
non-production environments, backup and recovery of these databases.

·         Creates and supports databases across internal and external
systems.

·         Improves database integrity through quality control and manages
change control processes related to the Oracle environment.

·         Problem management  - analyze & fix reported problems; work with
other team members in troubleshooting  problems

·         Proactive database monitoring for performance and other problems

·         Analyze, test, coordinate and facilitate upgrades/patches in
different environments

·         Performing non-prod restores/refreshes

·         Analyzing existing database applications for improvements,
database tuning and monitoring

·         Maintain up to date knowledge on database administration best
practices

·         Perform all tasks related to disaster recovery exercises,
capacity planning, and proactive database management

·         Provide 24x7 hour on-call any day of the week

·         Creating/adjusting cron jobs for backups and reports

·         Database migrations

·         Oracle installs (cluster and non-cluster) and builds

·         Review AWR/ADDM reports and provide recommendations for
improvement

·         Responding and replying to database support  tickets and emails

·         Team player, fast learner, work in a fasted paced environment,
share knowledge

·         Detail oriented self-motivator with time-management skills

·         Production support for TB+ databases
