*Job Description:*
-The IS Database Administrator is responsible for the maintenance and
support of mission-critical IBM DB2 DBs as well as monitoring, performance,
tuning, and security of the associated underlying application functions.
-This position will oversee all DB functions to ensure the stability and
support of a mission-critical customer facing application.
-This position requires DB and application experience in a multi-tier
virtualized SAN environment.
*-*Must have a detailed knowledge of DB2 Advanced Enterprise, Workgroup,
and Express version 9/10 running in Linux environment.
-Previous practical hands-on operational experience of DB2 running in a
live customer environment supporting mission critical DB functions is a
necessity.
*-*The Database Administrator will be responsible for the operation of
numerous DB2 LUW databases while working closely with internal business
analysts and developers to define and resolve information flow and content
issues and helping to transform business requirements into environment
specific databases design.
-The preferred candidate will also have in-depth knowledge with load
balancing, backup/recovery, partitioning, stored procedure optimization,
sizing/space management, tuning, and diagnostics of DB2.
-Production database support of 24x7 environments and on-call after-hours
work is required for this position.

* Additional Job Duties:-*Must work as a team player with operations
personnel and application developers.
*-*The position requires good communication skills in support of business
functions such as continuity plans and documentation of DB support
functions.
-Hands-on DB management is required including installation, upgrades, and
tuning of multiple load-balanced and/or clustered RDBMS on large
enterprise-level servers.
*-*Responsible for monitoring and tuning databases to provide high
availability of uptime of service and performance of applications.
*-*Relational database administration including user accounts, basic
networking, SQL, schema creation/manipulation, performance tuning, server
hardware and DB monitoring, implementing database patches and upgrades, and
normal routine DBA activities.

*Required Skills:-*Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
-5-10+ years previous IT experience.
-ScriptPro
-5+ years of advanced DB2 LUW database administration experience using DB2
v9/10.
-Hands-on experience with HP servers, SQL tools, maintenance plans and
Linux/Unix shell scripting.
-Highly skilled in DB2 best practices and standards.
-Able to function in a fast paced, high stress team environment and possess
strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal.
-Provides technical expertise in the use of database technology, SQL, and
DB best-practices to software developers.
-Accountable for the overall performance and operational support of
numerous production customer database environments.
-Monitors and analyzes performance metrics and allocates database resources
to achieve optimum database performance.
-Disaster Recovery experience including DB2 HADR, PureScale,
SQL/Q-Replication.
-Ability to provide 24x7 on-call and off-hour support as needed.
-MS-SQL DB and/or Oracle DBA experience is a plus.
