Title: Cassandra developer
Location: Woodside, DE Duration: 9 Month Contractor will be involved in software development on the CoMPASS MAPS team which includes building tools and services in support of the X1 On Demand Menu system. The menu system is a critical part of the X1 experience and exposes Xfinity On Demand assets in browse screens. This team is responsible for the core services that power that experience.* Evolve codebase to support new X1 features and use cases* Support tooling in a multi-tenant environment* Scale existing platform to handle X1 growthTechnical Skills:* Minimum of 5+ years of Core Java experience including core data structures and algorithms experience* Minimum of 5+ years in Web-based application development experience* Javascript experience is a plusInterpersonal Skills:* Solid verbal and written communication skills are required* Critical thinking, an analytical mind-set, and the ability to work through a problem and provide solutions is highly valued. Codes software applications to adhere to designs supporting internal business requirements or external customers. Standardizes the quality assurance procedure for software. Oversees testing and develops fixes. May require a bachelors degree in a related area and at least 5years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude required. Typically reports to a project leader or manager. TV recommendations and personalization are strategic growth areas for CoMPASS and the X1 platform. We are looking to augment the team with a software developer to help Comcast maintain a competitive advantage over systems being built by other top-tier companies working in this space.Software development on the CoMPASS REX team which is building the personalization/recommendations system for X1:* Candidate should have anywhere from 1-5+ years of software development experience.* Candidate should be able to speak to their experience in playing a KEY ROLE in developing a "production grade" application.
