What is fascinating, is that there were better systems at the beginning, but their profit tailed off into losses, because they were not being re-optimized! Having spent the better part of the last 3 Years looking at Optimization, I realized that algorithmic Trading systems, ALL algorithmic Trading systems, have to be optimized and re-optimized regularly to maintain profit when forward trading the system. The issues of optimization though are several fold:- You need to know what parameter to optimize for (other wise you are just curve fitting) and MT4's 'Tester' applet does not optimize for the right parameter..! The setup of both the Trading terminal, and second optimization terminal is complex. You need to make sure you have the right data when optimizing. You also need to know how much historical data to optimize against too. It is time consuming (up to 80 hours to optimize depending on number of system variables, and amount of history needed to optimize accurately) FellowTraders however, have finally solved this problem. Having coded external optimization parameters, and having spent the time and effort of setting up two optimization servers, which automatically update a User's system variable settings to give consistent forward trading results, FellowTraders have made this part of the purchase deal, for a small monthly subscription.
