The SQL Server team manages approximately 175 Applications at State Farm
with some of the more notable ones being 1) Session State -- critical for
web apps, 2) Legal, 3) API and Workload Management-- data marts for all
sorts of reporting, 4) Actuary, 5) ECRM, 6) SF Bank Applications, 7) Office
Communications Server, and CorpTax.   These applications encompass at least
800 databases (not including System databases). We are managing over 6
Terabytes (TB) of database space. SQL Server continues to be an important
DBMS at client along with DB2, IMS and Oracle.

*Job Functions or Responsibilities

We are looking for individuals that enjoy working in the Windows environment
and have an desire to complete technical tasks and provide excellent
customer service at a fast pace. Approximately 14 Data Specialists (internal
and external) make up the SQL Server Product Support team and SQL Server DBA
Service team.











*Must Have Educational Qualifications/Skills/Experience (Basic
Qualifications)

Working knowledge of Windows 2003 and some knowledge of Windows 2008
desired.

Working knowledge of Windows Script Host and VB script

. Knowledge of Microsoft Systems Center Operations Manager (SCOM).

Experience with T-SQL and the SQL language in general

Experience with administration and configuration of SQL Server 2005 and some
knowledge of SQL Server 2008

Experience with SQL Server Log Shipping
7. Some experience with Windows Clustered server environments.

Knowledge of Windows security
9. Knowledge of Active Directory concepts
10. General understanding of database replication and heterogeneous data
access concepts.
11. Working knowledge of networks and ability to resolve network
connectivity issues.
12. Understanding of testing theory and ability to make recommendations to
improve testing process
13. Broad working knowledge of Client Project Methodology development and
implementation steps.
14. Broad understanding of State Farm’s technical framework, standards and
guidelines.
15. Broad understanding of the hardware and software in use at State Farm

CRITICAL TECHNICAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Windows 2003 (and Windows 2008 would be desirable)
VB Script
SQL Server 2005 (and SQL Server 2008 would be desirable)
