Technical Writer Location: IRVINE, CA Duration: 8 months Req Details: Tech writers with consumer products experience. They can either be here or the Bay Area, but they have to work down in Orange County. Must-haves - Minimum of 5 years experience in a technical writing role. - Minimum of 5 years of computer skills especially in Microsoft Word, Acrobat Pro, and In Design - Must have experience in consumer products, prefer experience in networking industry with the end user being non-technical consumers - Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills - Must be flexible and have ability to interact with all levels in the organization - A sample of prior work preferred at interview Plusses - Technical writing and creation of product manual for consumer electronics Day-to-Day We are looking for a Technical Writer that is responsible for writing and editing technical documentation for the organization's consumer products. This person must have excellent research skills, must be able to organize their ideas ad be able to translate technical terms into text that any reader can understand. This individual will develop and maintain installation, configuration, and how-to documentation for both customers and employees. Also, they will design, develop and deliver product documentation for consumer products - this includes the Online Help, hardware / software manuals, instruction cards, and data sheets according to published procedures and style guides. As an integral part of the cross-functional product team, this person must learn the product by hands-on experience and work with the cross functional team to ensure that all product documentation messages are clear, grammatically correct and accurate.
