Sybase DBA Location: RICHMOND, VA Duration: 6 months Req Details: **Contract-to-hire position - US Citizens, GC, or EAD only please **Make sure In-depth knowledge of Sybase, Strong UNIX/Linux skills, knowledge of SSH, KSH is proven on the resume** Location Options: These positions are in one of the following offices: Mason,OH Richmond,VA North Haven,CT Thousand Oaks,CA Indianapolis, IN Job Description for the Project: Need Senior Sybase DBA. These positions will be focused on analyzing the configuration and security of all systems in the WellPoint environment and working with the senior leadership team to develop plans to remediate any configuration or security issues. These positions would also have significant input into creation of a database single sign-on infrastructure. . Responsible for ensuring corporate information needs are met through quality database designs, techniques and practices. . Provides technical guidance and leadership to the database administrators in the organization. . Establishes corporate standards for disaster recovery, data retention and database security and monitors industry standards. . Performs project management tasks, including estimation, status reports and scope management. . Determines database requirements for projects and ensures that new systems comply with database strategies. . Provides implementation and ongoing support. . Translates detailed design into physical database structures and performs database testing. Required Skills for the Project: . Experience dealing with very large environments is required (hundreds of databases). . Advanced knowledge of database security. . Advanced knowledge of database upgrades and patching. . Experience with single sign-on a strong plus. . Experience with development and/or deployment of enterprise wide database management tools. . Requires BS/BA Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems. . 8 or more years of information systems experience including 5 or more years of database administration experience or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. . Expert business, technical design and database administration knowledge required. . Demonstrates a mastery of cutting edge technologies to leverage when making strategic decisions. . Strategic thinking and ability to prioritize tasks to meet the business needs required. . Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills required.
