Data Modeler/Architect

6 mon - 1 year consulting

Location: Florham Park, NJ

 

Client would like someone from the financial industry but if they are very
good it is OK if no Financial.

 

Data Modeling should be all over the resume.  

These people are taking logical Data, and working with DBAs to transition it
into a physical data model.

Should know how to lightly code is SQL, write and run queries.  

Know DB2 on the mainframe side, Oracle enough to design indexes and keys,
along with light experience in Sybase and MySql.  

In the interview, they be given a marker and asked to build a model.

This is not an ETL developer role.


As a associate in the DA-Data Administration group you are required to
evaluate complex client business requirements and processes, including
software enhancements and maintenance to existing software, and design an
optimal logical data model. Prepares data design specifications, develops,
tests, and implements efficient, cost effective application data model
solutions. Receives general supervision from Team Manager or Development
Manager. Is competent to work at the highest level of all phases of data
analysis and application development while working independently. 

1. Works directly with business analysts to identify and specify extremely
complex data requirements and processes. 

2. Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and recommends the most
efficient and cost effective data solution for the systems requirements. 

3. Generates clear and concise data design documentation, and presents and
explains design decisions to peers and business/product subject matter
experts. 

Will use ERWIN logical data modeling tool. 

4. Analyzes existing system and data models to provide more efficient and
optimized solutions. 

Abilities/Skills: 

Working knowledge Logical Data Modeling techniques. Working knowledge of
Dimenional Modeling, Star Schema design and full data warehouse lifecycle.
Working knowledge of physical database design and DDL generation. Working
knowledge of ERWin (or similar data modeling tool) Working knowledge of
ER/Objects/Dimensional modeling concepts Ability to adapt to changing
business needs Demonstrated ability to focus on customer needs, business
processes and Company data standards Demonstrated ability to achieve and be
accountable for timely delivery of data modeling results that support
business needs required Demonstrated ability to review business and analytic
requirement and interprets them into logical data model. Ability to
communicate with mid-level business managers to confirm logical model based
on data requirements 

Ability to work on multiple RDBMS platforms including Oracle, SQL Server,
Teradata, DB2 Mainframe and create physical models / generate DDL.
