*Job Title: Websphere System Adm.* location: Chicago loop Duration: 6 months *Job Description: *Responsible for activities related to Internet Systems Administration and Internet Systems Architecture for J2EE (WebSphere on Solaris), .Net, and IIS based systems. Under minimal supervision by manager or lead technical staff member, maintains, configures and secures computer hardware and operating systems software (Sun/Solaris and Windows) as well as supported software/network services (file and print, server clustering, web servers, directory services, security services, etc.). This includes accountability for the integrity of the systems infrastructure environment, all activities related to production systems management and problem resolution, all related planning, scheduling, testing and coordination, and the maintenance of growth statistics, space forecasts. Provides technical support to other support teams and team members, engages in network and systems management and monitoring using various tools (OS & SW logs, network packet analysis, etc.), and participates in disaster recovery planning and testing. Implements Internet system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system. Strong system development lifecycle experience, change management and documentation skills. Demonstrates the ability to multitask and effectively support multiple test environments as well as the production environment. Willing to carry and respond to cell phone/pager calls in a 24X7 support role with call escalation and after hours support rotation responsibilities Will have frequent contact with internal and vendor software developers, internal and vendor support personnel and internal business users; infrequent contact is required with external customers. *Job Req: *Required: 4+ years experience in J2EE System Administration, specifically WebSphere Application Server versions 6 and 7. 4+ years Unix/Linux System Administration with experience in Sun Solaris 9/10 and Windows 2003 - 2008. 2+ years general client/server system administration (with non-web based systems) or network system administration experience. System/application troubleshooting experience on J2EE based systems. System/application troubleshooting experience on .NET based systems. Expert UNIX systems/automation programming skills using UNIX Shell, Perl, Python and/or Jython Experience with deploying applications from a source code management system like CVS or Subversion to a J2EE application server. 4+ years experience with web server configuration, specifically IBM HTTP server, Apache Web Server, and/or IIS server. 3+ years experience configuring authentication servers such as RSA Authentication Manager and/or Siteminder 2+ years experience configuring enterprise reporting servers such as Crystal Reports, JReport, and/or Oracle BI Publisher Willingness and ability to handle on-site core hours expected with this position (M-F 8 am - 6 pm during on-call week, 8 am - 5 pm on the other weeks of the month) Desired, but not required: Enterprise Systems/Solutions Architecture design and implementation experience. Experience finding and correcting the source of memory leaks within J2EE applications. Experience operating within a team environment.
