%1 shall be the first parenthesized subexpression, %2 the second, and
so on. That is ...

sr([0-9]*) root:cdrom 660 @ln -sf $MDEV cdrom%1

... shall do the job (note parenthesis).

But unverified. Never used this in mdev.
