(and I'm too lazy to count;-).
One more doesn't change anything.

Until you get it in the git-repo and the auto-update machinery. It
it works once, it will probably work forever.
And you are making a point for a separate package which is deployed
via your personal Alpine package repo which solves some of the listed
"problems" ....
adding 500 bytes to every busybox shell brings:
- bloat (and busybox avoids bloat even further than convenient - just
  look into the sources what one can compile in or out, respectively).

So at least, propose an appropriate patch with appropriate options so
that folks can leave it out - at a minimum. Thx ...
