GCC 14 introduces -Werror=implicit-int by default and the former
implementation of 'check'

check() {
        $cc -x c - -o $tmp 2>/dev/null <<'EOF'
main() {}
EOF
will cause gcc to fail.
Mark main as explicit function that returns int.
