Dear Members, Last Sunday (14.09.2008), the Kolkata team visited Shyamkhola ( Rajpur Municipality ), in South 24 Parganas district. This area has very rich faunal diversity. The habitat is dominated by bamboo plantations, also there are lots of small water holes/ponds in between these plantations. On one side of the locality there is a vast marsh-land. The weather was sunny but very hot and humid, throughout the day. A total of 42 butterfly species were observed (list attached). Common Duffer and Bamboo Treebrown are very common to this area, but this time we could not locate any one of them. Regards, Rudra
