Dear Members,
Last Sunday (14.09.2008), the Kolkata team visited Shyamkhola ( Rajpur 
Municipality ), in South 24 Parganas district. This area has very rich faunal 
diversity. The habitat is dominated by bamboo plantations, also there are 
lots of small water holes/ponds in between these plantations. On one side of 
the locality there is a vast marsh-land. The weather was sunny but very hot and 
humid, throughout the day. A total of 42 butterfly species were observed (list 
attached). Common Duffer and Bamboo Treebrown are very common to this area, but 
this time we could not locate any one of them.
