Subject: [ButterflyIndia] Ecological significance of Butterflies

Hi All,

I wish to know what is the ecological significance of butterflies in the
ecosystem. I know butterflies are required to do Pollination. And also they are
part of food web. But I was curious to know, why we all should care so much
about butterflies ? If all the butterflies as a whole is removed from the
ecosystem, what adverse effects bound to happen ? Are there any specific plant
species, whose pollination happens only because of butterflies ?

Any thought would be appreciated. I know we all love butterflies. I tried to
search the answer for this, but was unable to find it. Hence this email.

Thank you,

Narayani
