Hi Simlipal is a good place for butterflying. I was in Baripada town at the outskirts of simlipal for 3 years. Though Simlipal is a tiger reserve and also has elephant population, butterflying is quite possible. You will get permission from The Field Director of the tiger reserve whose office in in Baripada. You may try Nilgiri and Deokund near Simlipal. These places are good for butterflying. Keonjhor area is another place of interest.

So here you can expect butterflies like orchid tit, orange oakleaf, blue crow. I haven't visited west of orissa where you find maikal mountain range. There are good forests in these ranges and it will be interesting to have a checklist from there.
