Hi Kishen, thanks for initiating this idea. I had the similar idea around late 2007, when I thought of creating a database as well as a field guide to be used in mobile phone and laptops. But somehow it could not be a reality.
But I thought in the line of Optical Character Recognition. I never found any plugins (that searched for photographic similarity between the photograph in the database to that of the picture to be identified) to be attached to VB to get this job done. Now I am thinking to compile webpages (wikipedia, google etc.) in CHM format so that it can be updated easily without any programming complexity. It would be a great help to amateurs and pros in the field or in places where net is impossible to access.
