Dear Keith, I think I should have more photos of the exact plant on which they were feeding on. Right now my external hard disks are in a different place, so I will get back to you in couple of weeks. Even we were surprised initially about this plant, but thought it might be a new record. Since we were not very sure, we did not even report it. Now I am eager to go back and see rest of the photos and look for Adenia sp.
I would like to thank my good friend Adavanne Shivaprakash for spotting these beautiful caterpillars and Dr. E S Santhosh Kumar of Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram for identifying the plant. Thanks, Kishen On Fri, Jan 14, 2011 at 2:06 AM, Keith Wolfe <[email protected]>wrote: > > > Kishen, I seriously doubt your Tamil Lacewing cats were actually feeding on > the Naravelia, which is in the Ranunculaceae, a family that isn't a > foodplant for any species of Cethosia.
