uhh..... thank you sir!! I am doing this in hurry and there may be lots of flaws:
Photo of the Year 2010: 1. Ancema blanka argentea, Silver Royal:It was the last day of my October Field Trip in Buxa Tiger Reserve. The day was good with lots of Butterflies and I was returning to get the bus so that I can reach home. And all of a sudden I saw a small blue butterfly near a stream. It flew as soon as I spotted it and then I had to chase it a little. And then it went high and settled on a high canopy. I had two options at that time. Either take a bus to go home or waits for it to come down (which was very uncertain). I took the second option and waited though I was thinking what all are the chances I have to get this butterfly. Because they usually don’t come down once they are agitated. But LUCKILY it came down after few seconds and I was jumping like a kangaroo!! Finally few lucky shots and I was on my way to go home…. 2. Euploea algea, Long-branded Blue Crow: It was the4th day of my June Field Trip in Buxa Tiger Reserve. I was very lucky to see a leopard on that afternoon. After so much of excitement I stopped to have my lunch (Which was Glucose Biscuits) near a stream and I spotted this beautiful crow. I had to wait for 45 minutes to get this open wing shot. But it was worth waiting!! 3. Flos areste, Tailless Plushblue: The second day of my last Field Trip to Buxa Tiger Reserve, 26th Decenber, 2010. I was chasing a damselfly when I saw a whitish, brownish color butterfly fluttering near a stream. I took nearly 30 shots of it. But then I was little confused with its ID. Me and a friend of mine, Monsoon Jyoti Gogoi was checking other available photos of this species which are from other parts of Asia and very different from the one that I got. We were revising the ID key again and again. And then I saw the Specimen Photo of ‘Tailless Plushblue’ in Isaac Sir’s (Isaac Kehimkar) The Book of Indian Butterflies. And finally the clouds of confusion were gone (?). ________________________________ From: Vijay <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Tue, 18 January, 2011 10:25:40 AM Subject: [ButterflyIndia] Re: Photos of the year 2010 Hi Vivek, It is still not late to send information about your photo of the year. I am planning to upload them in one place for all of us to refer back, like earlier years.
