Hello friends,

Now that the site is back, please help develop articles and other information
resources also. Don't feel that you have done your bit just by sending photos
to/for the web site.

If you have ever used ButterflyIndia for learning more or for getting your
images identified or for coming to know about events and attending them, then
you have a duty to help develop this site. Considering that there are 1341
members of ButterflyIndia and about that many species if each of us just helps
write one article, all of the species will be done!

Warm regards,

Ashwin Baindur

Subject: [ButterflyIndia] Butterflies of India website

Hello ButterflyIndia members,

The Butterflies of India website (http://ifoundbutterflies.org) had been
offline
for some time due to server crashes, malware attacks and other issues. We were
very disappointed with these setbacks, which practically held us back from
developing the website last year. Finally, 10 days ago we moved the website to
another secure server and also sorted out several problems that had dogged us
last year. Ullasa Kodandaramaiah and I, who edit this website along with S.
Kalesh, have recently learned a few tricks of the web hosting and management
trade. So the website should function smoothly from now on and we are better
prepared for day-to-day management now.

Currently we have 75 species pages on the website, with at least one picture
per
species. The number of species pages should go to 150 and the number of images
should go to well over 400 within the next couple of weeks since we have the
photographs of that many species already formatted. Once this is done, we will
get to clearing up the backlog of hundreds of images that many of you had
submitted for this website last year. So there will be lots of developments on
the website in coming months. Keep checking back, we will have a fairly large,
peer-reviewed reference photo collection on the website in the near future
which
will be constantly updated.

Big thanks to Ullasa for investing a huge amount of time and attention to bring
the website back on track.

With best wishes,

Krushnamegh.
