Toms, thanks for sharing your interesting observations. Do you have any more
photos of either species? I would like to see more.

Hai all,

I just want to give few details about my sighting of Nilgiri fourring. I guess
David has already sent my picture to Krushnamegh. I took that picture exactly
from Kuttikkanam, a hill station in the Idukki district of Kerala(As david
mentioned, it is on the way to Thekkady from Kottayam., but about 35 km away).
The location details are as follows.

9°34'25.2419''N 76°58'32.8483''E
Elevation 1034 m above MSL.
Date: 11/12/2010.

I have also seen this butterlfly in Vagamon (another hillstation in Kottayam
District, Kerala) during October 2008.So I think this species has got a wide
distribution apart from north of Palghat gap. Interestingly, I haven’t seen
Palni Four-ring (Ypthima ypthimoides) in both these places ( Vagamon and
Kuttikkanam). But they are common in Munnar hills.
