To, The Collector, Umaria Dear Sir, I would like to draw your kind attention to the matter of the brick kilns operating in Tala village within the Bandhavgarh National Park. This appears to be causing some damage to the environs of the National Park. While there is no doubt that the rights of villages and villagers resident within the Park are to be respected, nevertheless, it is intolerable that such residents carry on activities detrimental to the National Park.
Brick kilns require clay and fuel, both of which are consumed in the process, the clay being sold and the fuel burnt. If the villagers cannot prove that supplies of these commodities are being obtained from outside the National Park, then obviously considerable damage is being done to the Park for commercial benefit to a few persons. In addition, the pollution caused by burning fuel in the kilns can also be detrimental to the wildlife of the National Park. Therefore, I request you to kindly take action in this matter and shut down the brick kilns so that the long-term security of the Bandhavgarh National Park is not compromised. Sincerely, Peter Smetacek -- Enjoy
