Hi Nelson, This is a difficult question to answer. In the first place what is the budget of the buyer, low priced cameras are good enough for shooting simple pics like picnics, or distant objects even with 15 mp resolution. For capturing butterfly images, you need to have a camera which can shoot from as close as about 1 foot. If you need to have a macro function, then aim and shoot cameras are available in the market, e.g. P500 by Nikon, but the price is quite high. ( Rs. 18,750/-)..... other cameras are good enough but the macro functions vary with each model, I personally would recommend either Nikon or Canon which have closeup and macro functions. The Canon Powershot SX30IS Digital Camera with 14mp resolution and a 35x zoom, is a good bargain - the cost is a bit on the higher side...... 24,250/- approx. The Nikon Coolpix P500 Digital Camera is a 12mp camera with a 36x zoom, and the price is approx. 19850/- You can check the two websites below for further reference: http://www.jjmehta.com/digitalcamera.html http://www.fotocentreindia.com With regards, Dr. Anand Amembal --- On Sat, 11/12/11, Nelson Rodrigues <[email protected]> wrote: >From: Nelson Rodrigues <[email protected]> >Subject: [ButterflyIndia] What camera do you use? >To: [email protected] >Date: Saturday, November 12, 2011, 12:08 PM > > > > > >Frendz > > > Many college students and young people, who not in a position to buy an SLR > camera ,ask me which is a good compact or bridge camera that can capture >decent butterfly images > > >So if you are happy with your aim and shoot camera ( or if you know >someone who gets good results from these cameras) could you kindly tell me the >name of this camera, model no and approximate cost so i can convey this >information to them. > > >nelson rodrigues > > > > -- Enjoy
