Hi everyone,

Happy New Year!

I'd like to share some really poor photos of a butterfly (sorry really low
light conditions) that I clicked at the end of the year outside India. It
was clicked at the *Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve* in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The reason I'm sharing it here is because we get the same species in our
North-Eastern states that border Myanmar.

The butterfly is a *Harlequin* *(Taxila haquinus)*. It is a small but
striking butterfly from the family *Riodinidae* and is found from
North-East India all the way to South Java. I also understand it is the
only species in the genus *Taxila*.

You can see some photos of the same species clicked within Indian borders
on the Indian Foundation for Butterflies website @

Best regards,
Sahil
