That is his backup for when the pileup is really deep. His 1.5Kw is merely the
driver for the real amp in the bunker.

Allen not only has a big gun station, he has a battery of 155mm guns. Or with
the pool, a turret of 8 inch cruiser guns.

Kids day and field day are not the same day. But you are correct, Allen is
equipped for such an event. I happen to know of another station in Richmond
that is also equipped. I'll have to send an email and see if either would be
willing to open their stations and pools to some chil-rens (o: Michael Wrenn -

BVARC has not done anything recently for Kids day. I have let my daughter get
on and operate. Last year was a bust for us as my Yaesu died during the event.
This year she operated during the early Kids day and made many contacts. It was
a lot of fun.

What might really be fun is if one of the local big gun stations would be made
available. Especially if it had a pool. Then the kids could use a radio that
was guaranteed to be heard, and when done operating could play in the pool.
Wonder if we know anyone like that (o: Michael Wrenn - K5WRN Sugar Land, Texas

Just curious; has BVARC ever done anything special for the ARRL "Kids Day"? The
next one is coming up on June 21 and I'm hoping my kids want to get on the air.
