Plans for the CW event at the Houston Museum of Natural Science this coming weekend Saturday through Monday have been firmed up. The event is part of the Museum's Battleship Texas exhibit. The USS Texas used CW to communicate with other ships and naval bases. The event will be from 11 AM to 3 PM all 3 days. Each day there will be two 2-hour shifts. These are the peak hours for visitors at the Museum. The plan is to demonstrate CW and perhaps let children try to send their name in Morse code. The Museum has one key and one oscillator. We are looking for volunteers to work the exhibit and if they have additional keys and oscillators that they could bring it would certainly help out.
At this time it appears that the Museum will cover the cost of parking in the adjacent garage and admission to the portion of the Museum where the exhibit will be located. Jennifer Gerbode is our contact at the Museum and she will be calling those of you who have already signed up to possibly work the event. If you are interested in working the event and have not signed up please call Jennifer at 713-639-4667. Jennifer is in charge of scheduling volunteers.
Peyton Barnes KE5ZDZ and I are co-chairing this event from the amateur radio side. We still need a few more volunteers. So, if you are interested send me an e-mail, or send Peyton an e-mail at [email protected] , or call Jennifer at 713-639-4667.
