We are planning to do FM on 2 meters and 440. I have bought a 6 meter portable
Quad so we can try 6 meters if we have operators to do so. We are still in
need of operators for Friday Night, Saturday Day, Saturday Night and Sunday.
The Ferry ride is not so time consuming, about 20 minutes. The wait time is
tolerable, usually one or two boats, but Sunday afternoon late sometimes a
couple more boat loads ahead of you, maybe an hour wait.
We plan to install the TH-3 donated with a triplexer for 20,15 and 10. Mike
has a dual bander vertical to install above the TH-3 for repeater work. I have
built a portable 40 ft mast for wire antennas. Bill will bring his famous
"worm burner" and we will see where it fits in. The "Texas Navy Certificate"
is an invention of Ron Litt and he has not released the particulars as far as I
know. We will try to have Cavalla and Stewart available, but Ron has not
shared his plan with us so far.
Ft. Travis promises to be a nice place to celebrate the ships. A better view
from Seawolf Park is not available to us this year. We asked, they said no.
Ft. Travis has over night camping, a couple of shelters, picnic tables,
showers, real bathrooms and cool sea breeze. Bill and I think you will like it
and we think we will like it. We will have food, drink, radios and antennas.
We hope you will join us. If you are going to work the Elissa you can join us
when they close for the night. We hope you will join us! If you stay home and
hope for a repeater contact, we will provide antennas and radios and operators
if we have them.

Is there any plan to do a VHF net like last couple of years for benefit of

This is an interim report on the MSWE antennas.

when installed. The 10 meter SWR drops to 1.75 at 28.000 and 1.25 at 28.4 and
does not cross 2.0 until 29.200. With the triplexer and filter the SWR is 1.5
at 28.0 and drops to 1.25 at 28.150 then rises to 2.0 at 28.380 and continues
to rise to a peak of 3.0 at 28.690 then drops to 2.0 at 29.000 and 1.5 at 29.3
and back up to 2.0 at 29.5. It appears that this Filter is optimized for PSK
and FM. Tests were made with TS-480, AIM-4170C. Results generally confirmed
by TS-480 SWR meter and Daiwa CN-101. The TS-480SAT auto tuner will resolve
all high SWRS to give full output from the TS-480 and better than 80%
efficiency. No attempt to resolve tuning was made as there are no external
controls provided. No attempt to tell whether the triplexer of filter is
causing the curve and no trials were made with the items separated.
