Hi Michael and the BVARC crew,

20 M was the $$ band for MSWE for the Cavalla and Stewart. We logged over 720
Q's in a very casual operation mode. The cabanas at Ft Travis made for great
radio room operations. No sunburn

The gostbusters came out to explore the inner gun bunkers Saturday night and
invited some of the BVARC crew to join them They never did find the sprit of
Marconi with exception of the the contacts in the KK5W log. Friday and Saturday
night total menu we served up hamburgers, racks of ribs, T-bone's, link sausage
with beans, camp beans, yellow rice and seasoned green beans for the sides. The
brownies made for a good dessert. With a few on site donations did make for a
good grocery list. Lunch was subways and or ribs and chips. Sunday breakfast
was coffee, large kolches, and doughnuts. Some of the BVARC crew went to the
Big Kahuna bar and grill while others hung in for overnight camping with a can
adult beverage or two. At the Crystal Palace resort was a large open pool party
that went into late evening ( not a BVARC party but invintation was given to us
that stayed at the motel )....Oh yah...back to the event...We had a need for
more operators as only had a total of 21 show up for KK5W event and few of them
were full time operators but all were full time having fun.We wish you could
have stopped by in the evening after the N5E shut down. Tomorrow I will count
up the ships contacted in the KK5W log and think / hope we have enough for the
15+ ship cert from NJ2BB. We even managed to keep the event under budget. More
details to follow. K5EWJ Cookie put on a great event as MSWE chairman.

I can report from the N5E operation at the tall ship Elissa.

  We started Saturday morning with a 20m, a 17m, a 10m, a 2m SSB and a 6m
station setup.

17m and 20m were our best bands. I made a few contacts on 10m in the late
morning, but by lunch the bad was dead and it never did come back to life. We
made over 400 Q's on Saturday.

On Sunday we exchanged the 10m station for 40m which allowed us to cover 40,
15 and 10. Unfortunately, all three of those bands were dead the entire time
that we were out there. 17 and 20 were very difficult in the morning and
nearly impossible by afternoon. We began closing down the stations at about
130p. By 3p the entire operation was packed up.

This is the exact opposite of last year where we suffered a CME on Saturday,
but Sunday had great conditions.

All in all, we had a great time. We had great weather. It was a lot of fun.
And we played radio all weekend.

  Seven Three,

  Michael - K5WRN

My 10 m di-pole simply aimed the wrong way & too low to pick up anything,
did hear several members calling KK5W on the 94 repeater Saturday morning &
early afternoon, but did not catch any replies..

Will be interesting to see the results by band and how the number of QSO's
compare with past years.
