BIG AL (N5XZ) IS DEAD MEAT!

BIG AL IS GOING DOWN!

If you have a Technician or higher class ham license, you can join in to
make Big Al tuck his tail between his legs. A Technician Class licensee has
SSB privileges on 10M from 28.300 to 28.500 MHz which is where 90% of the
SSB action is on 10M. So if you aren't on 10M yet, find a way to do so
ASAP. WE NEED YOU! The event begins in 8 days, at 7:01 PM CST Friday
evening Aug 1 (0001 UT, Aug 2) and goes for 48 hours. Even if you just make
5 contacts, you still count as a participant, on equal par with such high
scorers as Big Al (N5XZ) and Sir William (WS5H). Unfortunately Nizar
(K0NM), another high scorer, won't be able to participate, so we need you
even more.

A 10M antenna is easy to "throw up" and costs maybe $5 and can be hung from
anything, even 2 ea 10'x2 PVC poles. That would be more than adequate to
make a bunch of QSOs in this event; It probably won't get you on the DXCC
Honor Roll however - hi, hi. So if you want help with throwing up a 10M
antenna, ask virtually any highly active BVARC member and they can get you
help and they can probably provide the parts from their junk box.

Big Al has been challenged by BVARC. It is BVARC vs Big Al. We (BVARC)
total all our QSOs against his total. Sometimes we beat him; Other times we
don't.

SHOT (Space Houston On Ten) is the local chapter of 10-10 International.
SHOT often wins 1st place worldwide. With your participation, we can do so
again. You do not need to be a current member of 10-10 or SHOT to
participate. However, eventually we hope you join 10-10 and to do so, you
will need to have made contacts with 10 other 10-10 members. This is easily
and quickly done in this event.

ALSO, Big Al often wins 1st place worldwide. Your making a Q with him will
help him repeat as Grand Champion!

So, whether you make 5 QSOs or 500 QSOs, do it and have fun. "Be there,
Aloha!"

BVARC thanks Nizar Mullani, K0NM, for organizing this and for "the good
sport" Allen Brier (Big Al), N5XZ ,for accepting the challenge.

Come celebrate at the BVARC victory party after the event.

Tnx es 73

de John, K5IZO
