All:
I agree with Ron on this. The wording is fine. Leave it alone.

The current web form does not have any mention of Family relationship
roles. It simply says Additional Family Member.
Don’t think that needs to change.

Subject: RE: By Law changes

the current membership form is here
http://www.bvarc.org/index.php?page=membership
it has a spot for only one additional family member.
I imagine,
one of the reasons past BODs made a membership lower in cost
was because we didn’t have to mail a second newsletter to the same
household.
Now, the question may be, how many associate members can be attached
to one normal member?
spouse, three kids,
or buy one get one associate,
or anyone in the household?
Maybe,
if the newsletter is the official notification to our members
ANY associate members would HAVE TO BE in the same household
for notification purposes..??
We have the form in PDF and also in HTML on the website.
Redoing the web form is going to be simple and wont take long
but I will need a little guidance on wording..

Subject: By Law changes

Hi All,

I’ve been told that, if the by laws pass, they will become effective
immediately. This is impractical because we need to have time to revise forms
and make several changes to the web site.

The procedure for applying for a family membership needs to be changed.
We need some way to enforce the rules and I can’t think of a good way to
implement the rules concerning the relationship between the primary and family
member. Note that the word spouse is a relationship which does not
include “domestic partnerships.” I think that we have a small number of such
relationships. How is this to be enforced? I handle much of the membership
transactions and prefer to not have to be a “marriage cop” (this is
technically Bob’s problem). Perhaps, adding a statement to the membership
form
requiring a statement as to the type of relationship exists in an
associates situation?

Cam
