The second Thursday of October, our BVARC club will host an auction for the
BVARC members. This year, sellers will have the option to split the sale
with the club. Please read below for this years updated rules. The rules
may also be found on the bvarc.org website at
http://www.bvarc.org/index.php?page=auction

### RULES START HERE ###

1) Sellers have a choice to donate (provisionally, see ph. 3a) equipment to
the club or split the resulting sale with the club (see ph 3b).

2) The seller places a minimum bid value for that equipment in a sealed
envelope and gives that envelope to the auction equipment master. Envelope
externally shows equipment identification, but is NOT opened until after
the auction action for that item.

3a) If the auction creates a bid that is higher than the minimum, the
seller, if electing to donate his/her proceeds, has then given the
equipment to the club and the bidder gets the equipment. The seller gets a
tax receipt for the equipment. BVARC gets the auction cash. Bidder gets the
equipment.

3b) If the auction creates a bid that is higher than the minimum, the
seller will receive a maximum of 75% of the proceeds with a donation of 25%
to be distributed to the club. The seller may choose to donate any value of
the proceeds from 25% to 100% at their discretion.

4) If the minimum is not met, the auction can continue or not; judgment
call involving the seller. If the auction never reached the minimum, the
equipment is then returned to the seller.

5) Equipment should be somehow related to Amateur Radio and can be working
or not but must be so declared by the seller as to which when it is brought
to the auction. Seller must answer questions from the audience about the
equipment.

6) If the equipment is represented as working and turns out not, buyer can
return it within 5 days. BVARC returns the money, seller gets the equipment
back. If item is declared as "as-is", then it is buyer beware. The return
procedure is as follows:

6.1) Within 5 days of the auction, the buyer contacts a designee of the
board by telephone at normal business hours or through email.

6.2) Buyer describes why he feels the equipment is defective. Presuming
that he successfully makes his case, the board designee authorizes the
return and arranges with the buyer the details of the physical exchange.

6.3) At the time of the return exchange, the buyer receives a receipt.

6.4) The designee contacts the treasurer and arranges a refund to be sent
through USPS to the buyer.

6.5) The designee contacts the equipment seller and arranges for him/her to
collect the property and return the tax donation statement and funds
collected from the auction. The tax donation statement and cash/check is
required for the seller to receive the equipment.

7) If an item is brought to the auction and declared to be working, and is
damaged before the bidding is complete, then it still belongs to the
seller. Seller can then change the status of the item.

8) At time of payment, item belongs to bidder. If it is physically broken
after that time (not ph.5), it is still the bidder's.
