Bill,

This award is called the K1JT Award..named after K1JT Joe Taylor, Nobel winner
for Physics. I know, I talked to Joe about it and got his permission.

Thanks.Rick - W5RH

Subject: [BVARC] BVARC VHF AWARD updated info

Thanks to Camron the update on the 50 (MHz) and Above Award created by past
Prez Kirk and BOD has been located. 2013 BOD approved this Award and 1st
recipient was Thomas Krhan KT5TK @ 2014 Jan Banquet

Suggestions for a major award to complement the Loop and Zepp award. The intent
is to provide an award for outstanding service in club activities that involve
VHF and UHF radio. The 50 and above name is a suggestion -- I couldn't come
with anything cute:

"In 2014 the 50 and Above Award was originated to recognize BVARC members for
their efforts to promote operations on VHF and UHF bands These activities might
include providing repeater availability for nets and other club activities,
radio control and remote projects, balloon-launching and tracking, assistance
for charitable bike rides and walks, net control operators, promoting radio
sports, emergency management, and other related activities.

There shall be no more than one award presented each year, unless in any one
given year the Board of Directors elects unanimously to award more than one
award. It is not mandatory that the award be made each year, if in the board's
majority opinion, no nominee is selected. Under normal circumstances, other
than the condition stated in the first sentence of this paragraph, the yearly
recipient of the award, should there be one, must receive majority approval of
the BVARC Board of Directors."
