spaceweather.com says that the X-rays from a flare that happened January
13 "ionized Earth's upper atmosphere over Australia and the Indian
Ocean. Mariners and ham radio operators may have noticed a brief
communications blackout at frequencies below about 10 MHz." That flare
peaked about 0424Z, which would be the 11:25 PM EST Jan 11 the NASA link
talked about.
There won't be a CME, so that won't bother us, at least.

on Jan. 12, 2015. NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory, which watches
the sun constantly, captured an image of the event. Solar flares

cannot pass through Earth's atmosphere to physically affect humans
