All:
I am a new ham and therefore most of my HF is hands on. The fact that
I am retired and can sit in front of my rig is an advantage compared to
those that have to work all day and miss the rare DX. Do you not think that
those that work soul be allowed to have the same fun as I enjoy. And what
about the HAM who goes on vacation and does not have a mobile rig? I look at
it in the light as more hams on the air and that is a good thing.

Yes and why is the number of hams increasing? About 200K when I was a kid

If ham radio were truly 'dead' as this guy proposes, why did HRO open a
new store in Plano?
How many hf transceivers are still available for purchase from AES, HRO,
Universal Radio, Gigaparts, etc from Icim, Yaesu, Kenwood, Alinco, not to
mention the SDR radios and all to create an hf, analog modulated signal?

There are those who run around in their rut and continue to do the same
thing day after day and year after year. They fear change and complain
loudly that we are all doomed. They are on the defensive most of the
time.
Then there are those that embrace change and learn how to use it to advance
the state of the art and their personal journey of discovery. They are on
the offense; attacking, shaping the future, having fun.

You're right...it's not really that big of a deal. I run my home station
remotely every day.....
Still there are some on the 160 reflector that are forecasting the end of
the world.....

This shouldn't be that big of a stir.
The station is where the transmitter and antennas are regardless of where
the operator sits. I know of several contesters that operate remotely.
One
from his work QTH in Japan from which he controls his station back home in
Ohio. He has to get up early in the morning to work evening sprints during
the week because of the time difference
I know I have been looking into remoting my station. Check out
_remotehamradio.com_ (http://remotehamradio.com/) . They are doing the
same thing and not shy about
charging for the privilege either.
Interesting thing about this case was that it was a multiop and everyone
was
at home. Half the fun of the multiop is getting to hang out with like
minded hams for the weekend. Maybe they Skype or something while they are
operating much like the gamers do.
