.And we still learn it. I spend about 15 minutes a day at it. I'm at Koch
level "P" now at 23 WPM and character spacing at 3.5 normal. I add one
letter a week and it's working.  Speaking of Morse, there is an interesting
article in the July, 1922 issue of a magazine named "Radio Broadcast" that
describes wireless telegraph experiments by Morse involving placement of two
widely spaced metal plates on each bank of a river (link below). Interesting
stuff if you're interested in this kind of thing.
