Live Oak has not changed names, but it was bought early this year by Frédéric and Michelle Perrier, who also own the fine-dining French restaurant Aura Brasserie near Sugar Land city hall. Frédéric recently received top honors from some major French culinary institute. http://www.chefperrier.com/ They also own (actually co-own with another Sienna Plantation couple) Hoggs n' Chicks, a casual place on SH 6 near Sienna Parkway. Frankly I had been disappointed with Live Oak over the past year, so was glad to hear of the ownership change. I think they'll keep the same basic menu but gradually blend in some Hoggs n' Chicks' items. I doubt if it's turned into a "Biker Bar". Finally, until recently they also operated Coco Pazzo in the Township Center near FM 1092 and SH 6. But they sold it when buying Live Oak. The new place is Brandani's Restaurant & Wine Bar. Coincidentally, Jane & I ate lunch there today, and also have gone to 2 wine dinners at Brandani's this month. And we'll be at Aura next Wednesday for the monthly tasting/dinner of the Quail Valley Wine Club. Speaking of wine, an interesting new shop "Vino & Vinyl" has just opened next to Brandani's. http://www.vino-vinyl.com/ They stock a number of unusual (i.e., not found in the local wine stores) wines -- and also sell LP records, turntables and other items for the audiophile. (I should have kept my Garrard RC-88 from college days!) (Now you know why I seldom get to B-VARC meetings: Too busy drinking wine!) 73 de Irv KK5QQ In a message dated 6/11/2015 3:17:18 P.M. Yes, the Live Oak Grill has changed names; to what, maybe Dwayne is right? I have always liked the Jade Café, which is 1 block north of the meeting site so it is convenient to everyone coming from all directions. The food is good, it is fast, the place is clean and the price is right. It is at 2565 Eldridge Rd, in a small strip center, on the same side of Eldridge as the meeting location. Dont know if that was a true statement or not. Be sure to wear you bullet and knife proof vest just in case it was true.
