Snippet From Wiki:
The seventh *USS /Ranger/ (CV/CVA-61)* was one of four
/Forrestal/-class
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forrestal_class_carrier> supercarriers
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercarrier> built for the United
States Navy <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Navy> in the
1950s. Although all four ships of the class were completed with angled
decks <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angled_deck>, /Ranger/ had the
distinction of being the first US carrier built from the beginning as
an angled-deck ship.
Commissioned in 1957, she served extensively in the Pacific,
especially the Vietnam War
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vietnam_War>, for which she earned 13
battle stars. Near the end of her career, she also served in the
Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf.
/Ranger/ appeared on television in /The Six Million Dollar Man
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Six_Million_Dollar_Man>/ and /Baa
Baa Black Sheep
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baa_Baa_Black_Sheep_%28TV_series%29>/,
and in the films /Top Gun <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Gun>/,
/Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_IV:_The_Voyage_Home>/ (standing
in for the carrier /Enterprise/
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Enterprise_%28CVN-65%29>), and
/Flight of the Intruder
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_of_the_Intruder>/.
/Ranger/ was decommissioned in 1993, and was stored at Bremerton,
Washington <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bremerton,_Washington> until
March 2015. She is currently under tow to Brownsville, Texas, for
scrapping.

Just thought I'd share since I know a handful of BVARCers are former
servicemen.
