QST August has a review of The Art of Electronics by Paul Horowitz and Winfield Hill. This is about the 3rd edition. A great book, equivalent, IMHO, to the Hayward/DeMaw RF design book "Solid State Design for the Radio Amateur". The AOE covers general electronics; little of RF, but some.
So this new 3rd edition is $120, but the second edition 1990 can be had for the price of a free download. Google "The Art of Electronics PDF" the first link shown will be a PDF from the IATE.OAR.UNCOR.EDU -- download it. It is the full 1043 page text of the 2nd edition. 28 Meg.
