Age is not the barrier.  It is very expensive to get multi-engine jet
qualified. Even then you have to have a minimum number of jet hours beyond
qualification to be eligible for hire.  That's why UPS and Fed Ex hire as
many ex-military pilots as they can.  Very few civilians  can afford to
amass the required experience and hours it takes to get hired by these
companies. 

 

OTOH, it is very easy to get an amateur license, get on the air and make a
fool of yourself.  You may crash and burn but only in the figurative sense.
I guess that's why they call it "Amateur" Radio.

9-3-2010 and 8-14-2013 UPS flights had accidents and both times pilot and
co-pilots were killed . 

As Eddie pointed out 16 years old you can get your pilot license .
