Good Afternoon everyone!

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend in the great weather we have had these
last two days. For those who have missed the lasted announcements regarding
the Greater Houston Hamfest 2016 here are some updates.

The Greater Houston Hamfest (GHH) planning has really gotten started for our
2016 show. Most of you all have heard we are planning on a two day Hamfest
for 2016. This two day event combined with a new marketing push and the
additional space at the gives us a great opportunity to really expand our
program to include more vendors, more demos, and more programs.

We have submitted our application to be the Texas State Convention again for
2016! The goal this year of tremendous expansion is to dramatically
increase attendance over the two days and become more of a true convention
by creating a new energetic feel and introducing a new feel.

I can now announce we have successfully reached out to some of the hosts of
the online shows dedicated to Amateur Radio and with their help we hope to
expand the reach of our current audience. Look to the

Here is the summery of responsibilities as it stands now:

* Michael Wrenn is the Co-Chair and the Main Point of Contact for the
Vendors.
* Ron Litt is working on the Friday event and helping with e-mail and
club marketing.
* Bob Hawkins is working on rounding out the marketing plan by helping
with video, and some of the outreach programs.
* Eddie Runner and Nathan Hurt are working very hard to design us a
new public face to the website. Keep checking in in the next few weeks and
see some exciting changes.
* Rick Hiller with his long established relationships with ARRL is
helping speak for the GHH to Dr. Wollweaver and other ARRL dignitaries.
* Stephanie Vessey and Janet Wrenn are working on a comprehensive
program revolving on youth (Formally just a kids table)
* Pete Sauermilch as always has agreed to work on the tailgate plan
and operations.
* Matt Tatro is looking into some sponsorship ideas to help offset
some of our greatly increased costs for 2016.
* Allen Brier is helping us with our speaker program as always.
Allen, look out as of this writing we are getting many individuals
interested in presenting at GHH. I wish we had more room!
* Jeff Riff will be taking on the special event station.
* Donovan Balli will be stepping in as the money man.

Of course as always there are many details yet to be worked out. We are
seeking people to help us out with many of the following needs.

* FOOD remains the single biggest unmet need.
* Scheduling and volunteer management. There are several DAY(s) OF
EVENT areas that will need to be managed. We also need to look at a Friday
helper crew to help those who need assistance moving in.
* Security and ticketing. Our new plan includes several security
features built into the fairgrounds its self to help with eliminating some
of "door duty" positions that nobody likes, however we still will need staff
and a plan to manage the gate and sales.
* Raffle tickets sales. Last year this was a major undertaking with
at least two if not three full time people working on sales. We did
succeed! We sold out of all 4000 tickets during the 2015 show! This is an
area where we need shifts of helpers and one person to coordinate total
coverage and accountability.
* PRIZES!!!! The major prizes will need to be worked out sometime
soon, the minor and door prizes will also need to be rounded up and
advertised over the next few months.
* Signage for the GHH Site and posters for advertising, both at events
and points of sale through our partners, sub groups
* As part of our new marketing strategy we are trying to become more
engaged in outreach programs (Schools, other ARC's, other, meetings,
classes, and orgs)
* (I am sure this list will grow)

We have a great opportunity to take the years of hard work and build on the
reputation of the GHH as a truly the GREATER HOUSTON HAMFEST! Please let me
know how we can improve on our plans and get new ideas out there!

ALSO TO ALL OF YOU regarding GHH business please use
