Hi Rod, So, let me get this straight. You have said that the balun is made from the finest materials. It has higher efficiency than anything else on the planet and it¹s ³proprietary². You¹ve told me that it does not use any designs by Jerry Sevick.
So, in order to try to understand what I¹m buying, I need to: 1. Take a leap of faith and purchase a unit for $184 plus shipping 2. Disassemble the unit to see how it¹s built 3. Go through the patent filings to see what the claimed theory of operation is 4. Derive the schematic In other words, just trust you that your product works properly and don¹t look inside. Subject BAL600-H10-A Discussion Thread Response Via Email (Rod)12/02/2015 11:02 AM Hello Bill, Thank you for writing to DX Engineering. We appreciate your interest in our High-Power Transmission Line Transformers and Baluns with patented* Maxi-Core® technology. DX Engineering Baluns do not use Sevick designs with implementation on toroids. Instead, DX Engineering Baluns are a modern, proprietary design that is a pure transformer implementation using superior windings of wire and insulation on a special arrangement of beads that provides a larger core surface. Including the 12:1 Balun model DXE-BAL600-H10A <http://www.dxengineering.com/parts/dxe-bal600-h10-a> , our unique design produces greater current balance and higher power handling and transfer that results in higher efficiency over the entire frequency range from 1.8 to 30 MHz. No other balun offered at Amateur Radio market pricing offers the performance of a patented* DX Engineering Maxi-Core® Balun. DX Engineering does not publish schematics of proprietary designs. We are working on collecting images of these baluns. With an industry leading design and build quality, we respectfully submit that you will not be disappointed with your DX Engineering Balun purchase. Please feel free to call or write whenever you feel we can be of assistance with your DX Engineering purchases. Thanks again for your interest. 73, Rod Ehrhart - K8AAV (ex-WN8R) DX Engineering Customer Technical Support [email protected] Orders and Tech Support 800-777-0703 330-572-3200 www.dxengineering.com <http://www.dxengineering.com> Customer By Email 11/30/2015 06:10 PM Name: Bill Crowell, N4HPG Question Type: Technical Question Message: I'm interested in this balun. Can you provide the circuit diagram and perhaps an inside view? I've been reading Sevick's work and he has 2 different methods of getting 12:1, though they're similar in many respects. Before I buy, I want to see how it's built. 73!
