This discourse proves a few things.
1.  The auction was great and should be again.2.  HVRA will attend again.3.
The cost is trivial in my opinion whether $1 or $2.  I did not remember the
correct amount, but I remembered it to be trivial.  I will be wearing a Yellow
Shirt again, but don't mind the $2.4.  I will make a solid effort to make the
TARS Hamfest and the HVRA auction great again whether Trump wins the nomination
or not!5. If your interest is Ham Radio or Antique Radio or both, plan to
attend!  You will have a good time!  Spend a little money, it will not hurt
much!  Say a Big Howdy to some old friends and remember a few silent keys!

As the HVRA Board Secretary
Last year's auction at the TARS hamfest started at 11 am
Registration for the HVRA auction for last year costs $2.00
Any 'TARS Yellow Shirt' gets in for free as I will donate the entry cost.
[This is to comply with Texas State law regarding auctions]
We got done with our yearly convention now we can plan for the auction at the
TARS Hamfest
The assumption is that auction participants will pay the Hamfest fee

The auction is Saturday afternoon and the TARS hamfest will be Saturday morning
July 16 at the Lowery Center in Texas City.  Doors will open at 0800 for the
public and 0700 for vendors.  The morning will be for doing ham business with
the vendors and the ham resale tables.  The auction items will be viewable
Saturday morning and the auction in the afternoon.  Tickets will be available
soon and the auction will be in the afternoon.  It is a great day to visit with
old friends and ham buddies.  The auction is only a $1 to register and there
have been lots of old radios, parts and antique ham stuff, test equipment,
tubes, etc.  An annual reshuffle of goodies for antique and ham reshuffle,
downsizing and silent key redistribution.  As Chairman of the Event, I have no
pre-auction list but past experience show it to be an opportunity to convert a
small pile of cash into a large pile of stuff to look at, work on and
redistribute what you don't want next year, all for a good cause. Willis

Neat Robie!!  TARS shares a venue each July with the Houston Antique Radio Club
and the Antique guys have an auction each year Saturday Afternoon.  It is a
good place to pick up some boat anchor good time or Ham radio sets for repair
and use.  Prices are usually good, but sometimes rare stuff is bid up a lot.

All,
I found this piece about old radios fascinating.  As an early teenager I
searched mygrandfathers barn for old radios.  I found several of them and
actually got some of them to work!  Many of them required batteries - where
could i find a 67 volt battery???  All of this lead me to ham radio a few years
later.
Anyway, watching this video brought back a lot of good memories!
