All, I read this post and there are comments that others have made that are dangerous.
Ground and Neutral shall NEVER be bonded on the load side of the main circuit disconnecting means. Some are rather blasé about this. If a generator has a “floating” neutral, it must be tied to the ground at the generator per the manufacturer’s instructions. You can test the connection with the generator powered OFF using an ohmmeter or powered on by a voltmeter. If you don’t know how to make this measurement, you shouldn’t mess with the generator. In addition, the frame of the generator should be grounded to the earth or to some agree-upon grounding point that is grounded and this should be the sole source of earth connection. The primary purpose of grounding is to ensure that you don’t become a “crispy critter” by touching something that is energized with respect to ground. * With switch-mode power supplies, there is a great deal of current flow on the neutral wire. Re-bonding on the load side causes a number of safety devices to not work properly. 73 and stay SAFE!
