All great ideas. Most had been done enthusiastically in the past and were
a lot of fun. Now with a new batch of KE,KF, KG hams it is time to launch
into some of these again.

Most of these require nothing from the club "officially", as they are ZERO
DOLLAR things to do. Radio in Cullinan Park, contesting on Mustang Island,
the Antenna Seminar we did were all done independently of the club. Not on
purpose, but because it was fun and the individuals had a common desire to
have fun with the event, etc.

CW Net was started by W5TOM and me. Ran for 2.5 years and was a good
stepping off point for a few hams wanting to get back into CW (i.e. K0NM).
We promoted it thru the club nets and newsletter (see August 2012 newsletter
front page for an example), but operated independently on 10 and 80 meters.
Easily done today by someone that currently has that interest.

So, all of you newer Hams - have at it! Find yourself some others of
similar mindset and go for it. Do what you like in the hobby and others
will follow..remember that mouse trap quote!!!

One group outside of BVARC (but with BVARC members) is the Houston QRP club.
These cats are a great bunch of hams that get together for multiple
mini-contests throughout the year. They couple radio in the park with
contesting with antenna and rig building. See what they do at
http://www.w5acm.net/hqrp.html

OK, off the soap box.I look forward to seeing these events happen soon....GL

Subject: [BVARC] Monday Night Topic "Activities, Activities, We Want
Activities!!!"

This weeks BVARC Monday Night Net yielded some great responses from its
participants in regards to activities the attendees would like to see
happen. All the ideas introduced were warmly welcomed and agreed on by
others. Lets get to the list!

1. Radio in the Park. Pick a park every month and work HF as well as work
on antenna projects and such.

2. CW Net. Looks like some of the guys want to bring back a weekly Rag Chew
Net via CW.

3. Workshops. Monthly workshop on antenna building or small kit assembly
such as antenna tuners and even crystal kits for he kids.

4. Extra Ticket Training. Training course on the Extra Class License for
those who need help.

5. Club Picnic. Get together were everyone brings some food and maybe some
radio gear and have fun.

6. Digital Modes and ATV. Monthly get together or more for practice and
learning of digital modes and ATV.

7. Club Contesting. Getting more member involved in contesting and joint
efforts in contests.

8. Children Participation. Doing anything Ham related to get the kids
involved, like kit building classes and ham radio introduction.

Thanks again to everyone who joined this weeks Monday Night Net!!!
