Make or take plates to new dealer and have them do the proper transfer.
You should get paper plates until new registration takes effect. Do not
put on Radio Operator plates until you get the registration for them on
new vehicle.

I did this in February, but the dealer was lazy and would not go to Ft
Bend co, which cost me a few dollars more due to difference in Tax rates
between counties.

You can make sure that when you renew that you are in proper county. Car
insurance rate should not be affected. Hope this helps
