Band conditions were great for me. I was able to get 908 QSOs and one million score. My personal best. I worked a lot of DX with 108 countries on just 20 meters. Worked 35 of the 48 hours with the last few hours facing stiff complaints from my rear-end siting for so long. It is certainly not safe for a 74 years old man to sit in the same position for extended contests like this one. I took lots of short breaks during my 35 hours to walk around and do some exercises.

One of the best things about Ham Radio Hobby is that you have a chance to learn something new every day from the other hams around you. I learnt from W5RH that I can learn CW, even at 70 years of age. I also learnt from N5XZ that persistence and practice is needed to become better at CW. Competing with him on 10-10 contests made me a better person for contesting and operating. So, it is never too late to learn something new EVERYDAY. Here is what I posted on 3830scores.com

Comments:

I was going to Run most of the time to get some more CW contesting experience.

But, when I saw all the DX stations on the air, I got sucked into operating S+P

and Assisted. I did Run on the last day after getting too many dupes.

I thought the band conditions were good. I heard a lot of DX and worked almost

all of the ones I heard. Picked up several new countries. Even operated some on

80 meters with my low inverted VEE. I ended up with my personal best score for

this contest. Over a million points, 908 QSOs and over 100 countries on 20

meters. Now, I need a real antenna for 40 meters for the future.
