After re-reading it,  I see I wasn't clear. My home and shack are 35 plus
miles inside EM20.

I was referring to the 9-th and 10-th place on the grid square that is jk for
the shack and JJ for the house.

It is very rare for a house to split a Grid Square although it could. A 
Grid Square is two letters (base 18) followed by two numbers (base 10). 
This is referred to as the Field and Square. A subsquare (base 24) makes 
the location a bit more exact and another extended square (base 10) even 
more exact) Going further with extended squares only makes the accuracy 
of the point you are trying to identify more accurate. However, your 
Grid Square will never change, it is always the first two letters 
followed by the second two numbers.
