A five watt HT in Pasadena should be able to access it with no problem..the 40w
mobile is my FT8900 in Baytown at 146 and I-10..I hear the rptr half to 3/4 of
full scale on the S meter.. yet I can barely be copied thru it... MY 146.94 in
Vidor, same Kenwood TKR750 rptr, can be used as soon as a mobile can hear it..
in other words, it's balanced..there is no reason why any rptr is not balanced
for the average user.. when it can be heard for 30+ miles beyond where said
user can access it, there is something WRING on its end.. not mine

Sorry to jump on you. Please except my apologies. The 94 reptr in Missouri
City and yes it is at around 800 feet. However when I am in Baytown and on my
mobile (40 watts) my sig rpt is weak and scratchy. There for I do not believe
that a 5 watt hh will make the trip. As is the case with most nets you could
ask for a relay and if heard would be taken by that receiving station. Please
do not give up. Give us a chance to help you. A mag mount on a file cab or
the top of a car will greatly increase your sig strength. yoou claim that the
94 cant work 40 watts yet you are trying to work it on 5 watts. Where is the
logic in that. If I can be of further service please drop me a line.
